£1 million in financial support is to be made available by
central government to assist the most affected councils in
identifying private sector residential buildings over 18metres high
with potentially unsafe ACM (Aluminium Composite Material) cladding
in their areas.
The announcement was made in a letter from Tamara Finkelstein, Director
General - Building Safety Programme, to the Local Government
Association on 1 March 2018.
The letter also says that the government are making progress on
issuing a statutory direction as to local authority reviews of
housing conditions in their areas in respect of cladding
issues.
ARCH has no further information at this stage on how the £1
million package of financial support may be distributed.
