Latest government figures show that the number of homeless
households living in temporary accommodation has risen again.
On 31 March 2018 the number of households living in temporary
accommodation was 79,880 - up 3% from 77,880 on 31 March 2017 and
up by 66% on the 48,010 on 31 December 2010. The number of
households in temporary accommodation included 123,130 children, or
expected children.
13,300 households were accepted as being statutorily homeless in
the quarter to 31 March 2018. This was down by 2% from 13,640 on
the previous quarter and down 9% from 14,610 in the same quarter of
2017.
