We've been on the lookout for any inspiring shots that represent
your council's housing achievements over the year. The brief was to
'blow your own trumpet' and enter photos of anything from
tenant schemes and events to new builds and hard-at-work frontline
28 photos were entered from 11 different councils and the
standard was very high. The judges had a tricky time picking the
winner and runners up!
Warwickshire District Council - Tannery Court
sheltered housing scheme
The residents of Tannery Court decided they wanted to
enter a float in the local carnival, with the help of the staff
they made all the decorations and costumes themselves, they helped
to decorate the float and sat on the float (some were in their
90s!) all the way round, this all paid off as their float won first
prize in the carnival as well!
Hull City Council - tenant involvement
A group of tenants with learning disabilities feed in their
views for service improvement as part of the tenant involvement
framework. The success is that one member of the group now feels
confident to act as the chair.
Dacorum Borough Council - 'You are the key'
One of Dacorum's tenants used in the 'You are the key' campaign
which encourages tenants to become involved in running the housing
Wandsworth Council - Spencer Park community
The community garden initiative promotes greater local resident
involvement and an opportunity for all residents to come together
with common interest. Community gardens have the added benefit of
improving the environmental appearance of an area as well as
encouraging active lifestyles.
