The ARCH Tenants' Group's first meeting of the year will take
place on Monday 22 February at the CIH office in London.
The Group will receive an update from John Bibby, ARCH CEO, on
the passage through Parliament of the Housing and Planning Bill,
the Welfare Reform and Work Bill and what the provisions in these
Bills might mean for stock retained councils and their tenants.
The provisions in these Bills for the mandatory four year rent
reductions, restrictions on welfare benefits, introduction of
mandatory higher rents for higher earning tenants, phasing out of
secure lifetime tenancies, changes to succession rights and sale of
higher value council housing will have major implications for
tenants and their families.
The Group will also be discussing the production
of marketing material for tenants of ARCH member councils
explaining the new legislation and what it means for them…
