AV4T calls for landlords to facilitate tenant discussions on the Green Paper 13/09/2018 Labelled as Scrutiny, Tenants

ARCH is represented on the 'A Voice for Tenants' Steering Group (AV4T), by representatives from the ARCH Tenant Group and the Steering Group is calling for all social landlords to facilitate the necessary arrangements for their tenants to consider the Social Housing Green Paper and enable them to feed in their views to the consultation.

The Group has also launched an on-line survey.

The AV4T Steering Group comprises of the existing national tenant organisations, former members of the National Tenant Voice Board and other tenants who have acted on a national basis in the last few years to quickly form a body of tenants, with skills and some legitimacy to best reflect the diversity of tenant opinion and to be a steering group that will oversee the development of a body that becomes properly reflective.

The AV4T Steering Group has contacted ARCH to ask that we request that all ARCH member councils:

  • Facilitate the necessary arrangements to enable tenants to consider the Social Housing Green Paper and enable them to feed in their views to the consultation. AV4T helped the Ministry to arrange the Ministerial engagement events prior to launch of the Green Paper. The Green Paper is primarily intended to be about the views of social housing tenants, particularly responding to the issues raised by tenants in the Ministerial events. Whilst of course our member councils will have important points to make in response to the consultation - AV4T is asking that they also ensure that their tenants are supported to have their say.

  • Encourage and support tenants to respond to an online survey AV4T is carrying out specifically on the question as to whether there should be a national voice for tenants. The AV4T Steering Group will be using the responses to this survey to inform their own response to the Green Paper. ARCH member councils are asked to publicise the survey locally to their tenants and encourage them to complete it.

ARCH is happy to support this request and we encourage all ARCH member councils to engage their tenants in formulating their response to the Green Paper and encourage them to complete the AV4T on-line survey.
