DCLG review of RTB replacement agreements calls for evidence 29/09/2016 Labelled as Consultation

DCLG civil servants are carrying out a review of the current agreement on replacement of homes sold under the Reinvigorated Right to Buy Scheme introduced in 2012 with significantly larger discounts.

In introducing the re-invigorated RTB, the government also pledged to provide an affordable dwelling for each additional RTB dwelling sold under the reinvigorated RTB Scheme compared to the numbers that were expected to be sold under the previous RTB Scheme.

There has been widespread concern, highlighted in a National Audit Office report that the current scheme is failing to deliver one-for-one replacement of the additional homes sold under the Reinvigorated RTB since April 2012.

DCLG is keen to hear from councils that have had difficulty in meeting the requirements of the agreement and ideas for flexibilities or amendments that would help overcome these. The DCLG contact is Mark Ellis (mark.ellis@communities.gsi.gov.uk).
