Independent Affordable Housing Commission launched 09/11/2018 Labelled as Rent, Scrutiny, Value for Money, Tenants

ARCH Chief Executive, John Bibby recently attended the launch of a new independent, free standing inquiry into affordable housing in England.

The commission is chaired by Lord Best and includes a team of widely respected housing experts and parliamentarian commissioners. It is supported by the Nationwide Foundation, and the Smith Institute will act as secretariat to the commission.

In preparation for its launch, the Affordable Housing Commission published the results of a national poll, showing that two thirds of people believe that there is a national crisis over affordable housing and 52% believe it will get worse over the next decade.

The commission will include calls for evidence and is expected to be disseminating its findings by early 2020.
