Latest figures from the Ministry of Housing, Communities &
Local Government (MHCLG) show that, following the Grenfell fire, 46
high rise residential buildings managed by local authorities and
housing associations have finished remediation work to remove
Aluminium Composite Material (ACM) cladding systems.
A further 112 residential buildings identified as having ACM
cladding and managed by local authorities and housing associations
are yet to be remediated. However, of the 112:
- 89 have started remediation works
- 22 have a remediation plan in place awaiting commencement of
works
- 1 has reported an intent to remediate and is developing
remediation plans.
The picture in the private sector is less positive and the
report highlights that 226 private sector buildings (166 private
residential, 26 student accommodation and 31 hotels) with ACM
cladding are yet to be remediated: Of the 226 private sector
buildings:
- 16 have started remediation works
- 126 have a remediation plan in place awaiting commencement of
works
- 37 have reported an intent to remediate and are developing
remediation plans
- 47 buildings remain with unclear remediation plans - however
this number has fallen from over 200 buildings in June 2018.
There also remain 15 private sector buildings where the cladding
status is still to be confirmed.
