The government has set a target date of 2020 for the roll-out of
smart meters to all homes in England, Scotland and Wales.
ARCH are in discussions with Smart Energy GB Ltd, the
not-for-profit independent body created by the government for the
purposes of driving the adoption of smart meters in all households
by 2020.
Few people understand what they are buying when it comes to gas
and electricity, how much it costs or how they can manage their
consumption. The government sees the roll-out of smart energy
meters to all households as one way in which new technology can
transform the energy market and provide more control to
consumers.
Smart Energy GB is looking to develop a partnership programme to
work with organisations across the voluntary, private and public
sectors to help meet the government's objective.
Watch out for more information in future bulletins. In the
meantime if you're interested in promoting and championing the
installation of smart meters in your housing stock please contact

CEO.
