The Right to Buy (RTB) for all council and housing association
tenants in Scotland came to an end on 31 July 2016.
In stark contrast to Government Policy in England where council
tenants have been further encouraged to exercise the RTB their home
with increasing discounts, council and housing association tenants
in Scotland can no longer exercise the Right to Buy.
It came to an end in Scotland following a consultation carried out between June 2012 and
August 2012 and a period of notice to tenants to exercise their RTB
before the scheme came to an end.
