In a debate in the House of Commons Housing Minister Dominic
Raab promised that the Social Housing Green Paper would be
published before Parliament rises for its Summer Recess.
There has been speculation in recent weeks about when the
Government would publish the long awaited Social Housing Green
Paper first announced by the then Secretary of State Sajid Javid in
September 2017.
In responding to a debate on housing and homes on 15 May 2018
the Housing Minister said:
"Our Green Paper on social housing in England is a historic
opportunity to address this crucial sector, from landlord-tenant
relationships to, frankly, some of the ignorant and offensive
stigma that too many social tenants suffer today. This Government-a
Conservative Government-are dedicated to eradicating that
prejudice, recognising the hard work that so many social tenants
put in, valuing the pride that they take in their neighbourhoods
and restoring the respect and dignity that they deserve. We will
publish that ground-breaking report before the summer recess."
(Hansard Volume 641, column 245)
Parliament is due to rise for its Summer Recess on 24 July
2018.
