Ever wondered how your landlord service compares to others or
interested in learning about tenant scrutiny and/or service
developments and initiatives in other councils? Members of the ARCH
Tenant Group have come together to share news of what's happening
in their councils by sharing their local tenants and resident
newsletters.
In another of our series of articles we look at Hull City
Council's latest Annual Report to Tenants in which the Council
report that 2020-21 was an exceptional year with the COVID-19
pandemic presenting many challenges to the Council's Neighbourhoods
and Housing Service. The Council's priority was keeping residents
safe and the Council is proud to report that, despite the pressures
of the pandemic, they maintained their emergency repairs service,
carried out 99.9% of gas servicing, delivered 4,328 food parcels
and provided accommodation for 100 rough sleepers throughout the
various lockdowns.
Whilst the Council still have procedures in place to protect
residents from the latest COVID-19 threats, the Council have sought
to resume their more normal services, focussing on keeping homes in
good repair, maintaining the new build programme and making sure
Hull's neighbourhoods are good places to live.
A copy of the Council's Annual Report to Tenants is available on
the Council's website.
Commenting on the Annual Report to Tenants, Nev Allison, Chair
of Hull Tenants' Forum and Hull's representative on the ARCH Tenant
Group said it was:"A funny old year - a mix of normality and the
totally abnormal. As always, we - the tenants - had a seat at the
top table and worked in true partnership with the Council. Officers
listen to us, and, when appropriate, act on our points of
view."
