ARCH member Rotherham Borough Council is celebrating completion of their 500th new council home since 2018. Assistant Director of Housing James Clark said “That’s 500 families housed into good quality, affordable homes with a landlord directly accountable to them and residents. I’ve seen first- hand the life-changing impact these homes can make. Unfortunately 500 barely scratches the surface of what is needed. Increasing homelessness and a dysfunctional private rented sector means social housing has never been more in demand in Rotherham – 6500 families are waiting for a council property and the Right to Buy means we lose more homes than we can replace.”
