Regulations implementing Awaab’s Law have now been approved by Parliament, meaning that the Law will now definitely come into effect on 27 October.  ARCH has been in regular contact with MHCLG officials during consultation on the accompanying guidance, and this will continue after the  Law comes into effect and councils begin to provide feedback on how it is working in practice.  MHCLG officials say that one of the key asks landlords have raised in the consultation is for examples to illustrate the difference between significant and emergency hazards.  They are keen to provide some but would prefer to use real and not hypothetical examples.  Any ARCH member council which has examples to offer, or any other pressing concerns about the operation of the Law that they would like us to raise with MHCLG, is asked to get in touch with ARCH Policy Adviser Matthew Warburton (matthew.warburton@arch-housing.org.uk).
