The Consumer Price Index rose by 3.8% in the year to September 2025, which means that councils will be permitted to increase rents by up to 4.8% from April 2026, not including any additional increase where rents are below formula rents.  A Government decision on whether to allow an additional increase to rent convergence is not expected until the Autumn Budget on November 26th.
